Prior to 2011, I’ve never watched a Studio Ghibli movie. *depressedsilence*
I’m redressing that childhood loss right now. So far, my brother and I have experienced: (1) Spirited Away, (2) Princess Mononoke, and (3) My Neighbor Totoro. All three have completely blown me away. Spirited Away is one of the few movies that had me helplessly spellbound from beginning to end. Not bad for a ten-year-old animated feature.
Movie reviews, coming soon ^_^

No dubbings for me. First-time viewings are conducted strictly in Japanese (with subtitles *cough* of course). However, the options for Chinese dubbings make for great re-watching value.

You also need to watch Howl´s moving castle and Ponyo! I love Ponyo so so much!
Okay! :D I’m really looking forward to my weekend now ^_^
(Comments! From a blogger I love! I can’t tell you how validated that makes me feel ;)
I’m very jealous that you own this collection! I adore Studio Ghibli films. Grave of the Fireflies is a great watch, but be warned it is one of the saddest films of all time.
I’ve deliberately avoided watching Grave of the Fireflies so far because of (not despite) its reputation. Sad films make for tricky viewings as they tend to leave me feeling more manipulated than moved. I’d hate to ruin my yet-to-be-tarnished starry approval of Studio Ghibli. However, after watching Totoro, I’m in the mood for something darker…so I guess I’ll be taking up your suggestion ^_^ (Of course, your major may have something to do with that decision ;)
